StutterMind is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people who stutter achieve lasting improvements in speech fluency through neuroscience-informed education, structured training, and expert guidance.

Program fees directly support the development, delivery, and expansion of StutterMind’s educational programs, live training, research, and community resources—allowing us to advance our mission while maintaining high-quality instruction and support.

Unlike many charities, StutterMind operates through a mission-driven earned-income model. Program fees directly support our educational programs, scholarships, research, technology, and nonprofit operations.

Michael Ferris – Founder, President & Board Chair

Michael Ferris is the Founder, President, and Board Chair of StutterMind, Inc., an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing neuroscience-informed education and support for people who stutter.

 

As President, Michael provides strategic leadership for the organization, overseeing educational programs, scholarship initiatives, fundraising, corporate partnerships, financial stewardship, and day-to-day operations. He also directs the ongoing  development of the StutterMind Protocol and the organization's long-term vision.

 

Drawing on both lived experience and years of independent study in neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and nervous system regulation, Michael developed the educational framework that became the StutterMind Protocol. Today, he continues to lead the organization's mission of expanding access to evidence-informed speech fluency education through live training, scholarships, educational resources, and community outreach.

Governance

StutterMind is governed in accordance with its Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code applicable to public charities recognized under Section 501(c)(3).

 

As an emerging nonprofit organization, StutterMind is governed by a single-member Board of Directors led by its Founder and Board Chair. As the organization grows, StutterMind intends to expand its Board with additional independent directors who share its commitment to ethical governance, financial stewardship, and public service.

Michael Ferris is the Founder and President of StutterMind and the author of STOP STUTTERING: How to Rewire Your Brain for Fluent Speech. After living with severe stuttering for more than four decades, he devoted years to studying neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and nervous system regulation. His research led to the development of the StutterMind Protocol, which now serves participants internationally through education, coaching, scholarships, and nonprofit outreach.
